Let Him Go

B  O  X  T  E  L  E  S   –   R  E  L  E  A  S  E  D   6 th  A  U  G   2  1

Boxteles are a through-and-through Yorkshire Indie band and that particular flavour of Indie music has been capturing the imaginations of the masses for many years now.  Since the days of Jarvis Cocker leading Pulp to the charts, the blazing indie dominance of 04’ to 06’ with bands like The Pigeon Detectives and Kaiser Chiefs to right now, 2021.

This latest single ‘Let Him Go’ is a lively piece of Pop-Punk goodness with driving basslines, booming drums and a chorus guaranteed to stick in your head long after the first listen. This is a song that takes the Pop-Punk formula of bands like Green Day, Blink 182 and The Offspring and mixes it with the Northern grit that Boxteles are becoming known for. Another thing that makes this song stand out from the crowd is the hard-hitting subject matter of the song’s lyrics. Let Him Go deals with the so often unspoken subject matter of abuse in a relationship from two perspectives, the abuser themselves and a close friend of the victim desperately trying to convince them how wrong the situation is. It shows the mindset that an abuser often has in the sense that they can feel that what they’re doing is simply protecting their partner rather than the reality of their controlling and manipulative behaviour. An important subject to start a conversation about, wrapped up in a catchy, singalong belter of a track.

The Boxteles sound is exactly what you would hope, a grand bunch of lads who want to play good music and have a laugh on the road, which they have been doing from the start.

‘Let Him Go’ is taken from the E.P entitled Break-Ups, Bevs & Thinking Ahead, released on 6th August across all streaming platforms.
